Park Inn by Radisson Iloilo celebrates seven years of hospitality rooted in local culture

Seven years after opening its doors in Iloilo City, Park Inn by Radisson Iloilo continues to strengthen its presence as a hospitality landmark in Western Visayas, combining international standards with experiences shaped by local culture, cuisine, and community engagement.

The milestone reflects the continuing partnership between Radisson Hotel Group (RHG) and SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation (SMHCC), which has helped position the property as a key player in the region’s tourism sector. Beyond accommodations, the hotel forms part of SMHCC’s broader efforts to support regional tourism, stimulate local economies, and expand world-class hospitality offerings beyond Metro Manila.

“Seven years ago, we envisioned Park Inn by Radisson Iloilo as a landmark property that would add to the vibrant tourism landscape of Western Visayas,” said Ms. Peggy Angeles, Executive Vice President of SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation. “Seeing it flourish into a beloved destination that marries global standards with local heart is immensely rewarding. This achievement is a testament to SMHCC’s enduring mission to create meaningful experiences and support sustainable community growth across the Philippines,” Ms. Angeles added.

Since welcoming its first guests in 2019, the hotel has grown alongside Iloilo’s evolving tourism landscape. This year’s anniversary theme, “Seven Years of Ilonggo Hospitality,” highlights the warmth and authenticity that have become central to the guest experience and the property’s identity.

Global standards, local flavors

Recent achievements have underscored the hotel’s commitment to excellence while maintaining a strong connection to local heritage.

Technology has also become part of the hotel’s efforts to enhance guest experiences. Through StayPlease, guests can conveniently browse menus and place dining orders directly from their devices, adding another layer of accessibility and personalization to their stay.

The property has likewise pursued initiatives that celebrate and preserve local narratives through food. In partnership with the Iloilo MICE Center, it launched Beyond the Plate, a masterclass designed to help students and digital creators explore gastronomic storytelling and understand food’s role in expressing culture and identity.

This commitment to storytelling also led to the introduction of Panubli-on, a documentary-style series presented at the hotel’s signature restaurant, Áni. The project highlights the stories behind well-loved local dishes and the families who continue to preserve them, including the Varonas family’s Adobado nga Lukon, Ms. Pinky Gorriceta-Jalandoni’s Bibingka, and the heritage behind Kap Ising’s Pancit Molo.

Together, these programs reflect the hotel’s view that hospitality extends beyond service and accommodation, creating opportunities to celebrate traditions, share stories, and strengthen community connections.

Meanwhile, Guanzon continues to contribute to the local hospitality and business sectors through his roles as Public Information Officer of the Iloilo Hotels, Restaurants and Resorts Association (IHRRA) and Committee Director of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Iloilo.

Beyond industry achievements, the hotel marked its anniversary through community-focused initiatives. Team members recently visited the Iloilo City Pound and Animal Shelter, donating essential supplies and supporting local rescue efforts alongside volunteers.

“At its core, hospitality is about care,” Guanzon shared. “Whether we are serving a guest, supporting our local business community, or looking out for our four-legged friends, we believe these acts of kindness are what make Iloilo special,” Mr. Guanzon emphasized.

The celebration concluded with an anniversary gathering on April 27, 2026, honoring employees whose dedication continues to shape the hotel’s journey. A commemorative luncheon for media partners followed the next day, recognizing their role in helping share the property’s milestones through the years.

As it enters its eighth year, Park Inn by Radisson Iloilo remains focused on delivering guest experiences grounded in Ilonggo hospitality while continuing to champion local culture, community empowerment, and meaningful connections in one of the country’s emerging tourism destinations.
