Pag-IBIG Fund SAFE Loan releases P5.82 billion to over 803,000 members

Pag-IBIG Fund has released P5.82 billion under its Special Assistance for Financial Emergencies (SAFE) Loan as of July 22, benefiting 803,769 members in less than six weeks since the program was launched on June 10. The program was introduced to provide ready and affordable financial assistance to Filipino workers amid the continuing tensions in the Middle East.

Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Jose Ramon P. Aliling, who also chairs the Pag-IBIG Fund Board of Trustees, said the initiative supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s call for more responsive government services.

“We want our members to know that they can turn to Pag-IBIG Fund for support as they meet their needs and care for their families during this time,” Aliling said.

Under the SAFE Loan program, active Pag-IBIG Fund members with at least 12 monthly savings may borrow up to P10,000 or up to 90 percent of their total Pag-IBIG Regular Savings, whichever is lower, provided they are not in default on any existing Pag-IBIG loan. The loan carries a 5.95 percent annual interest rate, offers repayment terms of 12, 24, or 36 months, and includes a three-month grace period before monthly payments begin. Members may apply online through Virtual Pag-IBIG or at any Pag-IBIG Fund branch nationwide, with loan proceeds credited directly to their Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card Plus or Land Bank Cash Card.

Pag-IBIG Fund Chief Executive Officer Marilene C. Acosta said the strong availment of the SAFE Loan reflects the agency’s continuing commitment to help members meet their immediate financial needs while also supporting their long-term goals, including homeownership.

She added that members who still have remaining loanable amounts based on their Pag-IBIG Regular Savings may also avail of the Pag-IBIG Multi-Purpose Loan for additional financial assistance.

“Our Pag-IBIG Multi-Purpose Loan remains ready to provide further assistance should they need it. This is part of our commitment to be here for our members, not only for their immediate financial needs, but also as their partner in achieving homeownership and building better lives for their families,” Acosta said.

Applications for the Pag-IBIG SAFE Loan are open until Sept. 8, 2026.
