DOE, Ayala Land launch O.N.E. campaign to drive nationwide energy efficiency

At BGC Park Triangle in Taguig City, the Department of Energy (DOE) and Ayala Land, Inc. (ALI) formally launched the O.N.E.: Oras Natin sa Efficiency (One Hour, One Energy, One Nation) campaign, bringing together government and private sector partners in a shared push to strengthen energy efficiency and responsible consumption across the country.

The initiative encourages households, institutions, and businesses to dedicate one hour each week, from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM, to reducing electricity use through simple actions such as switching off non-essential lighting and minimizing power consumption. Positioned as part of the government’s broader demand-side management strategy, the campaign aims to support energy security while promoting more mindful use of resources across sectors.

For the DOE, the program underscores the role of everyday participation in building long-term energy resilience.

Private sector alignment with national energy goals

“Through O.N.E, we are empowering every Filipino to take part in securing our nation’s energy future. Small actions, when done collectively, can lead to meaningful and lasting impact,” DOE Secretary Sharon S. Garin emphasized.

Ayala Land, for its part, will extend the campaign’s reach across its diverse portfolio of residential communities, estates, offices, commercial centers, hotels, and logistics facilities, reinforcing the initiative at scale through its nationwide footprint.

The partnership also highlights Ayala Land’s broader sustainability agenda and ongoing energy management efforts across its developments.

(Oras Natin sa Efficiency) Campaign initiative, a nationwide effort encouraging energy efficiency and sustainable energy practices.

“Ayala Land has long recognized that energy efficiency is fundamental to sustainable development. Through our partnership with the Department of Energy, we are proud to support the O.N.E Campaign and help drive a culture of responsible energy use across communities,” said Ayala Land’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Robert S. Lao.

He added, “Our commitment goes beyond compliance—we are systematically transforming how our estates, buildings, and operations consume energy, as part of our broader sustainability goals.”

Embedding sustainability across large-scale property operations

Currently, 98% of Ayala Land’s commercial properties are powered by renewable energy or supported by renewable energy certificates. The company also operates 156 EV charging stations across 64 properties, supporting low-carbon mobility, while 62 properties covering 2.7 million sqm of gross floor area hold LEED, WELL, and IFC EDGE certifications.

Energy efficiency measures are further embedded across its portfolio through continuous monitoring and benchmarking against international standards, including the ASEAN Energy Benchmarking System, the Commercial Buildings Energy Consumption Survey (CBECS), and IFC EDGE.

Officials from the Department of Energy (DOE), the Taguig City LGU, and Ayala Land, led by DOE Sec. Sharon Garin and Taguig City 2nd District Councilor Ivie Dizon, and Ayala Land Chief Sustainainability Officer Robert S. Lao, spearhead the O.N.E. (Oras Natin sa Efficiency) Campaign during its launch at BGC Park Triangle Mall, Taguig City, on June 3, 2026.

Key initiatives include APMC’s ISO 50001-certified energy management systems supported by smart building technologies, 15.3 megawatts of installed solar capacity across 13 Ayala Malls properties with expansion to 38.4 megawatts by 2027, and green certification covering 91% of Ayala Land Offices’ gross floor area. The company is also expanding solar adoption across its logistics and hospitality segments through Ayala Land Logistics Holdings Corp. (ALLHC) and Ayala Land Hospitality.

Together, these efforts reflect how energy management is being integrated into daily operations across Ayala Land’s developments, supporting both efficiency gains and long-term sustainability targets.

Turning policy into practice across communities and estates

The launch of the O.N.E. campaign reinforces growing collaboration between government, business, and communities in advancing energy responsibility. With Ayala Land’s estate network and operational scale, the initiative is expected to translate national energy goals into everyday action across multiple touchpoints.
