Ascenda welcomes McDonald’s in Toril

Ayala Land’s Ascenda estate has reached a new milestone with the opening of its first commercial locator, signaling the beginning of a more connected and service-oriented community in southern Davao City.

Located along Maharlika Highway, McDonald’s Ascenda becomes the first business establishment to open within the 204-hectare mixed-use development in Toril, a project being developed by Ayala Land in partnership with Anflocor. The arrival of the global fast-food brand introduces a key everyday convenience for residents, employees, travelers, and neighboring communities in the area.

The new branch is McDonald’s 24th store in Davao City and its second location in Toril, reflecting the company’s continued expansion in a district increasingly viewed as a growth corridor in the city.

“We are pleased to welcome McDonald’s as Ascenda’s first business locator. This opening is a meaningful first step in building a more complete and convenient community for Toril,” said Gale Evaristo, Mindanao estate manager for Ayala Land Estates.

Designed under McDonald’s “Green & Good” initiative, the restaurant incorporates a range of sustainability-focused features aimed at improving operational efficiency and reducing environmental impact. These include eco-panels, ultra-low-flow water fixtures, motion and photo sensors, LED lighting, and energy-saving cooling technologies such as VRF and inverter air-conditioning systems.

The branch also advances the company’s commitment to inclusive employment by providing work opportunities for senior citizens.

“We are proud to open McDonald’s Ascenda as part of our continued growth in Davao City. Through our Green & Good features and inclusive employment efforts, we hope this store will not only serve the Toril community but also become a place where people feel welcomed, valued, and part of the neighborhood,” said Margot Torres, Managing Director of McDonald’s Philippines.

The opening comes as Toril continues to attract interest from investors and developers, supported by major infrastructure projects expected to enhance mobility and accessibility in the city’s southern districts. Among these are the Davao Bypass Road and Davao Coastal Road, which are seen to further strengthen connectivity and unlock new opportunities for businesses and communities.

With its first locator now operational, Ascenda takes an important step toward establishing a mixed-use destination that brings commercial services closer to residents while contributing to the continued urban expansion of Davao City.
