Construction activity has started along a portion of the East Service Road beside Arca South in Taguig City, marking an early phase of infrastructure preparations tied to future transport developments in Metro Manila.
The road works, which began on April 20, 2026, cover the stretch of East Service Road adjacent to Arca South in Barangay Western Bicutan and are expected to continue until October 2026. Authorities said the project is intended to improve traffic movement and expand road capacity in the area.
Enabling connectivity
The ongoing works form part of broader preparations linked to the Southeast Metro Manila Expressway (SEMME), also referred to as Skyway Stage 4. Once completed, the planned 32.66-kilometer expressway will connect Taguig City to Quezon City, creating an additional route that could help ease congestion along EDSA and C-5.
SEMME is projected to accommodate up to 150,000 vehicles daily and may significantly reduce travel time between Bicutan and key areas in eastern Metro Manila.
The East Service Road improvements are also aligned with the planned Taguig City Integrated Terminal Exchange (TCITX), an intermodal transport hub designed to accommodate buses, public utility vehicles (PUVs), and commuters within a centralized transport facility.
Broader impact
Located beside the affected road section, Arca South is expected to benefit from improved accessibility and traffic circulation once the upgrades are completed. Over time, the estate is positioned to strengthen its role as a transport-oriented mixed-use district supported by expressway access, integrated public transport infrastructure, and multimodal connectivity.
Improved mobility is also expected to reinforce the estate’s accessibility to Makati, Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), and eastern Metro Manila, while potentially expanding its appeal for office, residential, retail, and institutional developments.
Beyond the immediate area, the East Service Road expansion—together with SEMME and TCITX—reflects continuing public-private efforts to address congestion and improve transport efficiency across Metro Manila. By supporting more seamless north-south-east connectivity, the projects are expected to contribute to more efficient movement for commuters, businesses, and logistics networks throughout the metropolis.
