Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, LPU-Batangas shape next generation of Filipino hospitality leaders

The development of future hospitality professionals took a step forward on May 12, 2026, as Megaworld Hotels & Resorts (MHR) and Lyceum of the Philippines University–Batangas formalized a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing held at the university’s campus.

The agreement was marked not only by formal proceedings but also by a Sampaguita planting activity at the LPU–Batangas Riverside Campus, symbolizing the shared commitment of both institutions to nurturing future generations grounded in Filipino values and service excellence.

Leaders of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts and Lyceum of the Philippines – Batangas joined hands in planting Sampaguita in custom-made Sampaguita-shaped planters.

The initiative forms part of MHR’s ongoing Sampaguita advocacy, which defines its service philosophy anchored on love, honor, dignity, and healing. The ceremonial signing at the Main Campus further reinforced the alignment between academe and industry in building a more future-ready hospitality workforce.

At the core of the collaboration is a shared goal of positioning the Philippines as a leading tourism destination in Asia. This will be supported through coordinated academic and industry initiatives, including program collaborations, co-marketing efforts, and co-branding activities that bridge classroom learning with real-world hospitality practice.

The partnership also formalizes structured pathways for students of LPU Batangas to gain hands-on experience within Megaworld Hotels & Resorts properties. This includes the deployment of qualified students for on-the-job training and internship programs, as well as the implementation of a Study and Learn Program that integrates academic instruction with industry immersion and professional development.

Beyond traditional training pathways, the agreement also covers the development of micro-credential and certification programs aligned with emerging industry needs. Focus areas include Halal certification, Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE), and other specialized tourism disciplines. LPU Batangas will contribute to curriculum development, research, training delivery, and certification processes designed to respond to the evolving demands of the hospitality sector.

As part of its academic commitment, LPU Batangas will also lead the rollout of the Sampaguita Project across its campuses, promoting Filipino culture, heritage, sustainability, and hospitality excellence among students and local communities. The university will likewise be recognized as an official industry partner in Megaworld Hotels & Resorts’ related academic and promotional initiatives.

In return, MHR will support the partnership through workshops, seminars, and training sessions aligned with current hospitality standards and practices, while also recognizing LPU Batangas as a strategic academic partner in future programs and initiatives.

Together, the collaboration underscores a shared direction: strengthening Philippine tourism and hospitality education while creating clearer, more meaningful pathways for the next generation of Filipino hospitality professionals.
